Abstract
John Robert Bishop was born in 1926 and grew up in Clinton, Iowa, before moving to downtown Davenport, Iowa, where he worked as a television repairman. He is most notable for founding the American Nazi Party - Iowa unit in Davenport in the early 1960s. Bishop died in February 1985 in Davenport. The Hold Augie Accountable protest was held in October 2016, following an incident involving racist statements chalked around Augustana’s campus. This collection documents the chalking incident, the protest, and the immediate aftermath of the protest, including policy decisions made by Augustana administrators and students’ reactions. The collection includes agendas, speeches, news articles, photographs, recordings, artwork, artifacts, and web content generated during the protests.

Dr. Ross E. Paulson was a history professor at Augustana College from 1962 to 1995. He specialized in American and European intellectual history, historiography, and interdisciplinary studies. During his time spent on Augustana’s campus, Paulson was very involved with the school.
